Connecting investors with growth
The Capital Markets Union (CMU) project aims to stimulate economic growth in Europe by removing barriers to investment.
As Europe’s largest institutional investors, insurers fully support this aim, because removing these barriers will be crucial to enable insurers to maintain and further develop the significant investments that they make in the European economy.
Insurance Europe is, therefore, engaging with the Commission to identify issues that need to be addressed in order for the CMU to be truly effective. These issues range from adjusting capital charges on long-term investments, to ensuring an adequate pipeline of suitable long-term projects in wich insurers can invest.
