Response to EC public consultation on drones (unmanned aircraft)

Insurance Europe’s response and accompanying comments to the European Commission’s ‘public consultation on drones (unmanned aircraft) – technical standards for drones as a product and conditions for drone operations’ questionnaire.

Insurers’ interest in drones spans from being a user of drones to providing risk cover solutions to other drone users. Insurance Europe calls on the Commission to provide a clear common framework on licensing, certification and authorisation, and classification by use and size of drones at EU level. It highlights how fragmented legislation impedes market growth, and has raised privacy and security concerns.
