Insurance Europe and the European Youth Parliament (EYP) today launched the NextGen spotlight video competition, inviting young people aged 18 to 35 to create short videos on what insurance means to them and why it matters. Entries must be submitted by Thursday 30 April 2026.
The competition encourages participants to use their own words, experiences and creativity to show how insurance connects to everyday life. From travelling, renting a first flat and driving a car to starting a job, dealing with unexpected setbacks and planning for the future, the initiative aims to make the conversation around insurance more open, personal and relatable.
The initiative is part of the wider partnership between Insurance Europe and the EYP, which has been bringing young people into the conversation on financial literacy, risk and insurance since 2024 and continues in 2026 with a strong focus on financial literacy. Through this partnership, both organisations are working to create more space for young people’s perspectives to be heard and to help shape discussions on insurance, pensions and financial literacy.
The new competition builds on that approach by giving young people the opportunity not only to engage with the topic, but also to tell their own stories and share their own views on why insurance matters in real life. This is particularly important at a time when many young people still do not feel well equipped to make informed insurance decisions. In a 2025 Europe-wide survey organised by Insurance Europe and the EYP, 82% said they did not receive enough financial education at school to make informed insurance decisions.
Pre-selected finalists will be invited to Insurance Europe’s International Conference in Brussels, Belgium, on 28 May 2026, where the shortlisted videos will be showcased and the winner will be chosen through a live audience vote.
