Social dialogue gives employers and workers a structured way to address shared challenges, anticipate change and contribute to good working conditions across the insurance sector.
Through dialogue, joint declarations and the exchange of good practices, the European insurance social partners work together on issues ranging from skills and the changing workplace to diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and the attractiveness of the sector.
What is European insurance social dialogue?
The Insurance Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee (ISSDC) brings together representatives of employers and workers in the European insurance sector to discuss employment and social issues of common interest. It is one of the sectoral social dialogue committees supported by the European Commission.
The employers’ delegation brings together Insurance Europe, BIPAR and AMICE, while UNI Europa Finance represents employees. Insurance Europe plays an active role in the committee and chairs the ISSDC on a rotating basis.
Through the ISSDC, the European insurance social partners exchange views and good practices and develop joint declarations and positions on issues where cooperation between employers and workers can make a difference.

An attractive insurance sector
Ensuring the sector remains attractive with high-quality jobs, valuable skills and fair employment opportunities is a major focus for the social partners. Their joint declaration highlights meaningful careers, lifelong learning, responsible technology, flexibility, inclusion, sustainability and good working conditions as important to attracting, retaining and developing talent.
Diversity, inclusion and non-discrimination
The social partners are committed to equal opportunities and inclusive workplaces, including in recruitment, pay, training, career development and access to leadership. In 2026, this work was further strengthened through an addendum focused on preventing and addressing violence and harassment in the workplace.
Responsible AI and digitalisation
The social partners support the responsible use of artificial intelligence and digital tools, with human oversight, transparency, fairness and respect for workers’ rights. They also underline the importance of skills development and social dialogue as technology changes the way people work.
